About The JHRS Academy
The profession of Human Resources (HR)
management is changing rapidly, and encompasses a growing range of generalist
and specialist expertise. Now more than
ever, HR professionals are called upon to add value to both the
strategic and tactical efforts of the businesses they serve.
In line with its mission to help advance
the HR profession’s capacity to help business and other organizations in Japan meet escalating business demands, the
Japan HR Society (JHRS) takes upon its shoulder to establish and operate The JHRS Academy. Its primary mission is to define, set, and
evolve standards of HR practice in Japan, through foundational,
ongoing, and advanced education of Japan-focused HR professionals.
The function of the Academy would be two-fold:
- To offer continuing education programs or courses in both
generalist and specialist HR tracks, with an emphasis on best practices
and strengthening the HR body of knowledge, skills, and competencies to be at par with “global HR standards”; and,
- To develop, establish, and administer a Japan-focused HR
credentialing program to acknowledge mastery in the field of HR. Three levels of accreditation are
currently under consideration:
- Associate Japan HR Professional (Level 1)
- Japan HR Professional
(Level 2)
- Senior Japan HR
Professional (Level 3)
Ultimately,
The JHRS Academy will offer a full range of both HR Generalist and HR Specialist topics, including but not limited to areas like Benefits and Compensation, Employee Relations, Talent Management, Recruitment, and Organizational Development.
These courses will be offered for purposes of professional development and also for credentialing for interested HR professionals.
The Academy will draw its faculty from the JHRS membership and the community of Japan-focused HR professionals at large.
